What is Twistor Memory?

It is said that core memory is as similar as it can be compared with another renowned memory type which is commonly known as Twistor memory. This memory type is commonly known in the technology world of digital computers. This memory is designed and prepared by closing or wrapping up the medium known as magnetic tape around a wire known as the current-carrying wire.
Although there were very high hopes behind developing Twistor memory by its developers that are known as Bell Labs but it could not be used in the computer market from a very long time and its usage was limited for only two years. The usage of this memory type was started in year 1968 and it continued in the use in computer world till the 1970s.

It was the time when actually RAM chips quickly surfaced in the computer market and was immediately replaced by almost every computer manufacturer in replacement of any other memory type which was in their use just because these were really impressively faster along with less priced as compare to the other computer memories. It is commonly described as the single person’s brainchild as the only one person was behind its creation.
Andrew Bobeck was the person behind designing and making first ever device of Twistor memory in the world. It was the same person who is also behind designing, creating and preparing another famous memory known as bubble memory. The concepts used in the bubble memory were almost the same that were used in making and designing the Twistor memory.
